Ensenada is defined by the turquoise, glacier-fed waters of the Petrohué River, which flows through ancient basaltic lava formations to create a world-class hub for rafting and fly fishing. This high-energy aquatic landscape is surrounded by the lush Valdivian Temperate Rainforest, a rare ecosystem home to massive evergreen giants like the Coigüe, flowering Ulmo, and cinnamon-barked Arrayán. This dense “Valdivian jungle” is further characterized by a prehistoric-looking undergrowth of giant Nalca leaves, native bamboo, and mosses, all thriving in the humid, volcanic soil at the foot of the Osorno Volcano.
